The northernmost of the Shetlands, Unst is at the very northern tip of the British Isles. In a strategic location for both seafarers and birds, it has been shaped by exposure to the elements. In summer it never gets truly dark. Winter nights are long, but in compensation this is one of the best locations in Britain to see the Aurura Borealis, subject to cloud-free skies !
