Tiree
Known as the 'Land below the waves', Tiree barely rises more than a few metres above sea level, apart from the three hills at its west end. It enjoys a reputation for sunshine but is also exposed to the wind and Atlantic breakers, which attract watersports enthusiasts from far and wide. Rich pasture land, reedy lochs, rocky skerries and a fringe of sandy beaches provide a rich diversity of habitats for wildlife.
