Edinburgh silhouettes
Edinburgh has many buildings and landforms that are so distinctive they can be recognised by their outline alone. The ‘crag and tail’ profile of the Castle rock and Old Town, the jutting prow of Salisbury Crags, the ‘gothic rocket’ of the Scott Monument, and the Grecian temple form of the National Monument on Calton Hill are just a few examples. These and other shapes all lend themselves to photographic captures in silhouette form when the lighting conditions are right.
