Edinburgh’s elegant architecture and grand vistas are complemented by some beautiful open spaces and greenery. These comprise not only the famous ‘seven hills’ with their woodland and crags, but also smaller parks tended by local communities, allotments, and 'green ribbons' bordering waterways and former railway tracks. There are also countless intimate garden spaces which are sometimes half-hidden but provide tiny oases of calm in the midst of the bustling city.
